Some foreign tourists were visiting Myanmar.

Three hundred and fifty thousand foreign tourists arrived between January and March of this year, according to an official from the supervising department of the Ministry of Hotels and Tourism.
“The foreign tourist arrival is 350,000 nationwide between January and March. Chinese tourists are the largest, and Thailand tourists are the second largest, which is larger than last year,” he said.
The foreign tourist arrival has elevated again this year’s tour season compared to the previous year, he added.
Since the 2023 dry season, which is the tour season in Myanmar, the arrival of both local and foreign visitors has mounted again, and the arrival of local visitors surged in October and slightly fell back in November. However, it increased again during the New Year celebration and continued to rise in January, February, March, and April 2024. The tourist arrival reached a peak in the Thingyan period, said an official from the Myanmar Tourism Entrepreneurs Association.
In this year’s tour season, the majority of visitors went to Mandalay, Bagan, Inlay, Kalaw, Kyaiktiyo, Chaungtha, Ngwehsaung, and newly developed beaches. In Thingyan, people flocked to famous destinations such as Chaungtha and Ngwehsaung beaches, but hotels could provide rooms for those only who had already made reservations. Some people couldn’t find rooms in Chaungtha, and Ngwehsaung visited newly developed beaches. Some people took day trips during Thingyan. — MT/ZS
