THE Eurovision Song Contest returns in a few days and Sweden is hosting, after Loreen's win in 2023.

Who are the Eurovision 2024 participants?

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest has 37 participants in total.

However, only 26 will perform at the Grand Final with Sweden and the 'Big-5' countries (France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the United Kingdom) pre-qualifying for it.

The remaining countries will need to fight for their place at one of two semi-finals.

Here are all of the acts taking part in the Eurovision Song Contest.

In 1999, a rule change allowed the United Kingdom, along with France, Germany, Italy, and Spain, to automatically qualify for the final, as they bring in the most revenue for the Song Contest.

They are joined in an automatic place in the final by the 2023 winning country, Sweden.

When will the UK perform in Eurovision 2024 Grand Final?

The UK will be performing in the first half of the 2024 Eurovision Song Contest Grand Final, which means they will be one of the first thirteen acts to perform.

To determine when they perform, the countries have drawn after the second rehearsals.

There are three possible outcomes during the draw:

  • First half (running order 2 - 13)
  • Second half (running order 14 - 26)
  • "Producer's choice" (running order 2 - 26)

The final running order will be decided and announced after Thursday's May 9, 20214 Second Semi-Final.

It is already been decided that the host country Sweden will perform as first act in the Grand Final.

Who are the predicted guest acts of Eurovision 2024?

Sweden’s Eurovision 2018 singer Benjamin Ingrosso will perform during the interval at the first semi-final.

He said in a statement: “After I got to represent Sweden at Eurovision in 2018, it now feels great to be able to show the audience who I am today.

“It has been fantastic to meet all the fans on my tour in Europe during the spring and now I hope that the Eurovision audience will love this show as much as I do.”

Turkey's Eurovision 2003 winner Sertab Erener is taking the stage at the second semi-final interval.

The Turkish pop star will perform in a singalong, where the audience will be invited to join in with her and past winners Helena Paparizou and Charlotte Perrelli.

Where is Eurovision 2024's host location?

The 2024 Eurovision Song Contest is being held in Malmö, Sweden after their win at the 2023 Eurovision.

Malmö won the bidding against Stockholm and Gothenburg.

Malmö Arena has a capacity of 15,500 seats.

Sweden has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest seven times after winning in 1975, 1985, 1992, 2000, 2013, 2016 and 2023.

Malin Akerman and Petra Mede will be the hosts.

Petra has hosted the Eurovision Song Contest before in 2016.

She said about returing: "Imagine getting the chance to host Eurovision once again!

"It's such an incredible honour.

"After first hosting it alone and then together with the delightful Måns by my side, I am now really looking forward to working with Malin.

"We don't know each other from before, but we have met a couple of times now, and I'm already completely sold.

"It's going to be a joy to work with her!"

Malin said about hosting for the first time: "I can’t really describe my feelings about this.

"I am very excited and a little nervous, but in a positive way.

"I have always liked Eurovision and to be a part of this fantastic show together with Petra is a dream come true.

"Additionally, Petra is one of the funniest women I’ve ever met."

The grand final will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2024 and the semi-finals being held on Tuesday, May 7, 2024 and Thursday, May 9, 2024.

This year it is the first time that the Big-5 countries will perform their entries in full during the semi-finals.

UK contestant Olly Alexander is taking the stage on Tuesday May 7, 2024 at the first semi-final, where he will perform his song Dizzy.
