1 dead, another seriously injured after crash in Dawson County

LAMESA, Texas (KCBD) - A Lamesa man is dead after a crash Thursday afternoon on US-87.
Just after 3 p.m., emergency crews responded to the crash at the intersection of US-87 and Country Road L.
According to the crash investigation report, 89-year-old Rex Zant was in a car going south on CR L. An SUV, driven by 37-year-old John Villalobos of Lubbock, approached a stop sign at the intersection. The DPS report stated the SUV “failed to yield the right of way” to Zant’s vehicle. The two vehicles collided in the roadway.
Zant was taken to the Medical Arts Hospital in Lamesa where he later died. Villalobos was taken to UMC with serious injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
