During the Vietnam War protestors gathered in large numbers on college campuses in disgust of our involvement in a war we should have never been part of. The protestors marched against the soldiers’ involvement, not the lies the government dished out. Four students were shot and killed on an Ohio college campus during that era. What have we learned?

Our law enforcement agencies learned how to better de-escalate a hostile situation without using deadly force. Protesting students have failed to learn anything.

The Vietnam War protestors were angry at the military. They felt the soldiers were wrong and that they should not have been in Vietnam. They were too naive to understand that Nixon, Johnson and the rest of their cabinet members were liars and warmongers.

Fast forward to today and there are once again protests on college campuses. This time it's not because of our soldier’s involvement in a conflict, not because our government is spineless, but because the protestors want colleges to stop investing their endowment money with businesses that support Israel, as the protestors are mostly pro-Palestinian.

We have a right to free speech and a right to PEACEFUL protest. What’s happening on college campuses now is not peaceful. It’s more a follow-up to the George Floyd aftermath. When college students break into and unlawfully occupy buildings on campuses like they did at Columbia University, that's not peaceful; it's criminal.

What these protestors don’t understand is money that is invested is not directly invested with one company but a mass organization of companies. And it’s because of these investments that those very same students are able to get scholarships to attend the schools at which they are protesting.

These actions are a result of the wars in Gaza and the West Bank, which are occupied by the Palestinians. Militant Palestinians raided Israel last October and murdered, in cold blood, many innocent Jews and took hostages. Israel gave the Palestinians time to return the hostages or pay the price. There was no outcry from the college protestors at that time to the Palestinians to release the hostages.

With a lack of response from the Palestinians, Israel had no other choice than to retaliate, which they did with mighty force. Consequently, as in any war, there are and will continue to be civilian casualties. The Palestinian guerillas are hiding in Gaza and the West Bank while the hostages are still prisoners and the bombing continues.

Again, no out cry from the protestors to have the Palestinians return the hostages. Nor has there been any outcry against the initial actions of murder, rape and pillaging that the Palestinians performed on the Jews in Israel.

The conflict is an abomination, which has been brewing for many years and, like all conflicts in that region, religion and politics are the nucleus of the issue.

The college protestors are ignorant. They want their universities to stop supporting businesses that support Israel. Ironically, they go to Starbucks and use social medial like Facebook, Google and X to get their messages across. Don’t tell those idiots but those companies are supporting Israel. Do you think Mark Zuckerburg is not a big supporter of Israel? What would happen if one of the protestors needed emergency medical attention and the attending physician was Jewish? Would they refuse life and death treatment?

My advice, not that you asked, is that universities need to revoke all scholarship money from every radical protestor and give that money to a deserving veteran. Schools need to have boundaries for legal and peaceful protests that can be held in a specific place and for a designated amount of time then its back to class.

Some of the protestors are of Middle Eastern descent. If they are that passionate about making change, they should get an education and go to the Middle East and try to solve issues from where they originated.

Why have there not been any protests by these same people against the war in Ukraine? If they are humanitarians, why not starve themselves because Russia is killing Ukrainians? The protestors are being poisoned and led to the slaughterhouse by a group of mongers. Russia, China and the Middle East must be cheering the protestors as they are tearing our country apart faster than domestic politics.

In the meantime, the rest of America will go back to work to pay taxes to support our government and other countries as well as repaying student loans for people who hate America.  Those protestors, should they choose to stay in America, are the future leaders of this country and they, and it scares the hell out of me.
