A tornado watch has been issued for Johnson, Nemaha, Otoe, Pawnee and Richardson counties in Nebraska and several counties in western Iowa until 11 p.m. Tuesday.
Storms are expected to move across the region during the afternoon and early evening hours. Heavy rain and lightning will be common. Some storms may produce wind gusts up to 70 mph and up to golf ball size hail. While the threat of tornadoes is smaller than last Friday, a few are possible.
Make sure weather radios are turned on and cell phones are fully charged so you can be alerted if a severe thunderstorm or tornado warning is issued for your location. If a tornado warning is issued, a tornado has been spotted and may soon move over you. Seek shelter in an interior room on the lowest floor of a permanent building immediately.
