Crash in Merrimack one of several serious crashes in southern NH this week

Fire department officials said one person was taken to the hospital after the crash Thursday night.

Merrimack police are investigating a serious crash on Turkey Hill Road.According to the fire department, the crash happened at about 8:20 p.m. on Thursday. When first responders arrived, they found a vehicle on its side right next to a fence and house. The house was not damaged.Fire officials said one person was taken to the hospital. There is no word on that person's condition. Other patients were evaluated at the scene.The crash in Merrimack was one of at least seven serious crashes in southern New Hampshire this week. Other crashes happened in Nashua, Candia, Londonderry, Pelham and Jaffrey. There was also at least one serious crash in central New Hampshire. Tamworth police said a crash shut down a section of Route 16 Wednesday afternoon.Police said the driver a car crossed the center line and hit a tractor trailer. The driver of the car was flown to the hospital. Police identified the driver as Timothy DePalma, 57, of Bridgton, Maine. The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.
